1° Day: Arrival in Matera and setting
The arrival in Matera marks the beginning of a unique journey. After checking in at a refined hotel, dedicate yourself to a first encounter with the city, letting the timeless charm of the Sassi envelop you gently.
2° Day: Adventure in Sassi and the Murgia Park
Cross the paths of Sassi di Matera, where history and craftsmanship come together in a sensorial experience: tufaroli, ceramics, whistles, bread stamps, papier-mâché, and oil are the protagonists of this lively cultural story. Visit the traditional oven with a bread-making lesson and tasting, and immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of the Casa Grotta and the rock churches.
In the afternoon, a gentle excursion to discover the Murgia Park, with an aperitif at sunset that paints the unique nature of the area with poetry.
Total walking route approximately 8 km, van transfers approximately 14km return.
3° Day: Murgecchia and the Crypt of Original Sin
A short transfer takes you to the prehistoric site of Murgecchia, a landscape that enchants among quarries and the historical wonders of the Crypt of Original Sin, where time seems to have suspended its breath.
The experience ends with an exclusive aperitif at Casal Dragone, a local wine factory, for a moment of Lucanian taste and hospitality.
Total walking route approximately 4 km, van transfers approximately 30km return.
4 Day: Adventure and culture among rafting and villages
Morning departure from Matera towards the Pollino Park, a place where nature and legend meet. The day continues with an exciting descent on the Lao River, a rafting experience immersed in the clear waters of uncontaminated landscapes. In the afternoon, visit the Rotonda Museum and the characteristic village of Civita, linked to the Arbëreshë community, for a dive into a thousand-year-old culture
Transfer by van, approximately 90km return.
5° Day: The majestic Pollino National Park
The excursion to Pino Loricato, a symbolic tree and guardian of ancient stories, offers unforgettable emotions and views. We will spend the evening in Rotonda with a typical dinner and overnight in Rotonda town.
Next morning transfer will be provided to Bari airport or Bari train station.
Walking route 14km, van transfers 12km (from Rotonda to Colle Impiso) return + 80km to Bari.
This route is designed for those who want to discover Basilicata and Pollino slowly, deeply and in style, starting from Matera and crossing landscapes, traditions, and flavors that leave a mark on the heart.
